Bio and Introduction

Hello my name is Matthew Nakamura and I am currently a PhD student studying mechanical engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I completed both my bachelors (2020) and masters (2021) as a member of the accelerated masters program. I work jointly between the University of Hawaii Applied Research Laboratory and the Nanosystems Lab, which is under the supervision Assistant Professor Dr. Joseph J. Brown. I have worked with both labs since October of 2018, primarily developing sensor platforms to perform monitoring/characterization of materials and environmental conditions. My interests include sensors systems, material characterization, micro/nanoscale technology, electromechanical system design, low-cost manufacturing, and tunable materials.
