iMatSci Innovation Showcase Keynote Address

Irene's favourite Monday talk

Due to my interest in  biomedical applications, most talks I will attend throughout the week will be from the biomaterials symposia (BM). My favourite talk today was Professor David Mooney's talk on development of bioadhesives that work in wet conditions. His team has used a two component system to combine a flexible substrate with a strong adhesive and shown its versatility and possibilities for application in wound healing and tissue repair. Do not miss the videos in the supplementary information- the video showing the adhesion force between the engineered adhesive and a live pig's heart is pretty impressive!
